Makin' it Mega
“I’m goin’ to Jackson” ~ Johnny Cash
"The competition was hot this year between nearly 700 competitors at the famously rich 2012 Mega Barrel Race which was held between Aug 23-25 at the Mississippi Fairgrounds in Jackson, USA. Lan Bar Barrel Racing producers generously added $40,000 to the race and paid out a total of $136,800. The barrel racing was once again run in a 3 round format, where the top 35 in each division from the first and second rounds, qualified for the 350 competitor final. Then, at the end of the competition, when the finals were done and dusted, and champions were announced, many divisional winners and placegetters went home with sizeable pay cheques."

4D CONCEPT EXPLAINED
All competitors, regardless of ability, run in the same 4-D barrel race. The four divisions are then determined by time brackets. With the 4-D format, the OVERALL fastest time of the race is used to set the time brackets for the four divisions. Speed2Succeed under ABHA rules, awards points to members IN ALL DIVISIONS
ABHA POINTS SYSTEM:
1st - 5 points
2nd - 4 points
3rd - 3 points
4th - 2 points
5th - 1 point
ABHA is based on 1 SECOND SPLITS.
1st Division: These are the riders with the fastest times.
2nd Division: These are competitors who ran ONE SECOND or SLOWER than the OVERALL fastest time.
3rd Division: These are competitors who ran TWO SECONDS or SLOWER than the OVERALL fastest time.
4th Division: These are competitors who ran THREE SECONDS or SLOWER than the OVERALL fastest time.
This applies to the 4D All Stars Junior Barrel Race also. However it does not apply to the other events which are based on placings, not divisions.
Little Drummers will have an ON LEADLINE and OFF LEADLINE prize and points based on placings, not by divisions.
